BuildCraft Pump

Buildcraft Pumps are used to collect and transport water, oil and lava through waterproof pipes into a tank or a machine. The pump must be placed above the fluid and you will not need a pipe between the pump and the fluid. The pump will extend a pipe downward to directly transfer the fluid upward.

To power the pump, you will need either Buildcraft Engines (redstone, steam or combustion) or an Energy Link. However, steam pumps are the best to use as they will not explode and are much faster than the redstone pump. You will need to connect a waterproof pipe to transfer the fluid out. The pump will automatically push the fluid into the pipe.

Pumping water and lava are rather basic and do not need more explanation than the above. However, with oil, you will need two tanks as the pump may pick up water along with the oil. Fill a tank with a single water bucket to block oil from entering that tank and fill the other with a single bucket of oil to prevent that tank from filling with water.
